The fashion industry...
contributes to 10% of carbon emissions and 20% of wastewater globally. It is currently projected to release one fourth of the carbon dioxide needed to reach unsafe levels in the atmosphere.
Why we care
Clothing production and consumption has more than doubled since the year 2000 but in the U.S. less than 15% of that gets recycled. Everything else is sent to "textile islands", landfills where tons of clothes are dumped every year.

... and why you should too
Toxic and materials have been found in clothes from fast fashion brands. In order to keep their clothes cheap, they are made with synthetic fibers reliant on fossil fuels. These chemicals are only one of the many hazardous conditions the textile workers deal with on a daily basis with one off day a month.
